National Designated Authority
The Department of Economic Development is Saint Lucia's National Designated Authority (NDA) to the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
The NDA approves all GCF project activities within Saint Lucia and oversees all communication between national stakeholders and the GCF.
Furthermore, the NDA is the authority that the GCF recognizes for all legal matters pertaining to their organisation and is the official signatory on behalf of the Government of Saint Lucia.
The NDA to the GCF plays a key role throughout the project cycle in ensuring country ownership and a country-driven approach, which are core principles of the GCF business model.
Accredited Entities
Organizations with specialized capacities in climate change and climate action may apply to become a GCF Accredited Entity (AE). Guided by the GCF’s investment framework and the priorities of the implementing country, in this case the Government of Saint Lucia, AEs develop funding proposals to be considered by the GCF and oversee, supervise, manage and monitor their respective GCF-approved projects and programs. They can be private, public, non-governmental, sub-national, national, regional or international bodies. AEs should have clear, detailed, and actionable climate change projects or programs to show GCF’s developing mitigation and adaptation programs. They must also meet GCF’s standards based on financial standards, environmental and social safeguards, and gender.
